We Sell Your Advertising

Overview

In modern society, it’s no secret that advertising has developed a ubiquitous presence in all aspects of our daily lives. From digital applications tracking our shopping habits, to heaps of print flyers in our mailboxes, it is something we’ve grown accustomed to – but it wasn’t always this way. Advertising used to be a small component of everyday life, with companies producing highly artistic graphic advertisements to compete for the consumer’s eye in public spaces. As a result, bold colours, eye-catching illustrations and provocative subjects were all common elements of antique advertising - thus sparking a desire for collectors to accumulate and preserve these important pieces of history. In addition to captivating artwork, advertising collectors often hunt for pieces made from specific materials. Porcelain, for example, was a material companies began to use for signage in the 1880s as it was durable and weather resistant. When World War II began, most of these signs were destroyed for the base metal they contained. Surviving porcelain signs are a jackpot for collectors. Other examples of highly sought-after advertising materials are tin signs, celluloid pinbacks, thermometers, calendars, mirrors, clocks, and more.
