We Sell Your Jewels
Overview
Gemstones and jewellery have been a part of mankind since before history was written. The appearance and purpose of jewellery has changed radically with the ages, providing us with a unique glimpse back into specific time periods. The Georgian period consisted of cameo necklaces and portrait pendants meant to honour loved ones. The Victorian period introduced semi-precious gemstones and mourning jewellery, the latter becoming so popular that people began weaving the hair of the deceased into their necklaces and lockets. The Art Nouveau period bloomed with natural floral patterns and traditionally ‘feminine’ designs, while the concurrent Edwardian period brought delicate, elegant pieces boasting diamonds and pearls set in platinum. The trends have continued to change and evolve with time, adding a unique touch of sparkle to every era.
