We Sell Your Mechanical Banks

Overview

While saving money these days involves transferring funds between accounts on your banking app, the process used to be a bit more ‘mechanical’. Mechanical banks are small containers with a decorative mechanical action, originally introduced to encourage children to save money in the mid-19th century. The banks were most often made from cast iron, and were creatively designed to depict historical, legendary or everyday events to add an element of enjoyment to the money saving process. The banks would perform an action or stunt when a coin was dropped inside and a lever was pulled. The banks soon became popular amongst both adults and children, and became a sought-after collector’s item.

Demand Remains Strong
